Katharina Behling is a Berlin-based artist/photographer, born in East Germany. After studying photography at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig and Rhodes University South Africa, she graduated in 1999 at the HGB Leipzig with a Master of Arts degree.
Photos by Behling vividly portray diverse narratives and authentic emotions – in real life situations – together with personal and collective chronicles that focus on people and social contexts.
Behling has worked with international clients, such as Akademie der Künste Berlin, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Die Zeit, Der Freitag, Spiegel, SZ jetzt Magazin, Portobellobooks, Randomhouse, Galiani Berlin, Granta Books, World Literature Today, Spex, Intersection, DamN, Die Form, WWD Womens Wear Daily, MÖVE, Yoga Now Berlin, Claudia Skoda, Museum Marta Herford, Palais Populaire, Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin.
Her work has been published in both magazines and in book form, has received awards, and has been supported by scholarships including DAAD, Käthe-Dorsch-und-Agnes-Straub-Stiftung Berlin, Stiftung Kulturwerk der VG Bild-Kunst and Stiftung Kunstfond.
Katharina Behling is a Member of VG Bild-Kunst Bonn and BBK Berliner Verband Bildender Künstler.
